From ‘Aisyah RA:
Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) went to bed, he would blow on his hands, recite al-Mu’awwidzatain, and then pass his hands over his body.

Reflections:
1. Among the etiquette of going to sleep in Islam is to recite zikir/dhikr and du’a.
2. Before the prophet (ﷺ) went to sleep, he would read the Mu’awwidzatain (Surah al-Falaq and Surah an-Nas), blow upon his hands, and then pass his hands over his body.
3. The Prophet (ﷺ) also taught us this particular series of Quranic verses as protection during the day and night:
“Read ‘Qul huwallahu ahad (i.e. Surah al-Ikhlas)’, and the Mu’awwidzatain during the day and night three times each and it will protect you from the dangers of the world.”
