The Prayer Before Sleeping And After Waking Up

Huzaifah narrated:
When the Prophet (ﷺ) wanted to go to bed, he would recite, “With Your Name, O Allah, do I die and I live.” And when he woke up, he would say, “All praise is for Allah who gives us life after making us die, and unto Him is the Resurrection.”

Narrated in Sahih Bukhari
Grade: sahih (authentic)

Reflections:
1. Rasulullah (ﷺ) taught his followers to remember Allah as the sole cause of life and death before going to sleep:

2. He (ﷺ) also taught to invoke Allah’s name and praise Him for handing us life (meaning that Allah wakes us up) after giving us death (meaning that Allah puts us to sleep):

May we make this du’a our daily practise.
