Abu Hurairah narrated the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “When one of you sneezes, he should say, ‘Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah).’ His brother or companion should then say to him, ‘Yarhamukallah (May Allah bless you).’ The first person should then reply, ‘Yahdikumullahu wa yuslih balakum (May Allah guide you and make better your condition).’”
Narrated in Sahih Bukhari
Grade: sahih (authentic)
Reflections:
1. Rasulullah (ﷺ) taught the etiquette to be observed by a Muslim when he sneezes.
2. When one sneezes, he should utter
(Praise be to Allah)
3. If one should happen to be around a person who sneezes, one should say
(May Allah bless you)
4. And if one who sneezes should receive such a wish from another, he should reciprocate by praying for him:
(May Allah guide you and improve your condition)
Let’s nurture rahmah by wishing each other well when sneezing.
