The Radiant Marks of Ablution

Nu’aim bin al-Mujmir narrated:
I went to the mosque with Abi Hurairah. He took wudhu’ and he said, “I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say, ‘Verily, my followers will be known on the Day of Judgment as ‘Ghurran Muhajjalin’. Whosoever is able to increase his radiance, let him do so.”

Narrated in Sahih Bukhari
Grade: Sahih (authentic)

Reflections:
1. Muslims who are thorough when performing wudhu’ (ablution) will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment with lustre faces, hands and feet, which are the body parts involved in washing.

2. It is preferred to be generous with the water used on these body parts.

3. As such, amongst everyone gathered, the followers of Muhammad (ﷺ) will be called ‘Ghurran Muhajjalin’ on the Day of Judgment. This is an Arabic term normally used to refer to prized horses whose faces and feet are marked white, differently coloured from the rest of their fur.
