The Sin of Those Who Initiate Abusing Others

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

When two people indulge in hurling (abuses) upon one another, it would be the first one who would be the sinner so long as the oppressed does not transgress limits.

Narrated in Sahih Muslim, hadith no. 2587

Grade: sahih (authentic)

Translation adapted from sunnah.com

Reflections:

1. Islam forbids the act of disgracing and insulting others.

2. When two persons are involved in a confrontation, the sin of verbal abuse shall be borne by the initiator so long as the receiver does not respond in kind.

3. Those who are patient with insults will be rewarded by Allah.

Let’s spread RAHMAH by avoiding verbally abusing and insulting others.
