Anas said: The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) performed ablution with one Mudd and took baths with a Saa' up to five Mudds.
Narrated in Sahih Muslim, no 325b
Grade: sahih (authentic)

Lessons:
1. Islam teaches us to conserve water when performing ablution
2. One Mudd is roughly equivalent 750 ml of water. One Saa’ is roughly equivalent to 3 liters of water.
3. The Prophet SAW would perform ablution with only 750ml of water and bathe with roughly 3 liters (a tradition that we should follow to conserve water).
4. Al Marwazi RH said: When Imam Ahmad performs ablution, almost no water falls onto the ground/the area in which he performs ablution.
Let us be vigilant of our water usage. If there is a limit to the amount needed for ablution and to bathe, then what more for any other purpose. Conserve water!
