Say Greetings (Salam) Before Entering The House

عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا بُنَيَّ إِذَا دَخَلْتَ عَلَى أَهْلِكَ فَسَلِّمْ يَكُنْ بَرَكَةً عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ 

From Anas bin Malik RA he said; The Prophet SAW said to me: "O my son, if you enter (home) to meet your family, say salam, it will be a blessing for you and your family."

(HR Tirmizi No: 2622)

Learnings:

1. One of the etiquettes when entering a house is to say greetings (salam) first. 

2. Teach our children to say greetings (salam) before entering the house. 

3. The person who greets (say salam to) his family members before entering the house will be blessed in his life and to his family members. 

4. Greeting (salam) when entering the house is mentioned in the Quran: 

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَدْخُلُوا بُيُوتًا غَيْرَ بُيُوتِكُمْ حَتَّىٰ تَسْتَأْنِسُوا وَتُسَلِّمُوا عَلَىٰ أَهْلِهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ 

O believers, do not enter any house that is not yours, until you first ask for permission and greet its occupants;  that is better for you, so that you remember (obey the polite way and rules)

(Surah al-Nur: 27) 

Make sure to greet (salam) before entering the house.
