The Amazing Believer

Shuhaib reported that Rasulullah s.a.w. said: Strange are the ways of a believer, for there is good in every affair of his. And this is not the case with anyone except in the case of a believer, for if he has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks (God), thus there is good for him in it. And if he gets into trouble and shows resignation (and endures it patiently), there is good for him in it.

Lessons:
1. A believer is always accepting of whatever fate befalls him.

2. A believer will always be grateful for every good that befalls him. Gratitude can be shown through the following ways:

a. Heeding Allah and being humble

b. Expressing one’s love for Allah

c. Acknowledging that all good is none other than from Allah and praising Allah

d. Ensuring that Allah's favours are used only in ways that please Allah

3. A believer endures any hardship or mishap with patience and acceptance.

4. Ibn Qayyim once mentioned that half of faith (iman) is patience while the other half is gratitude (shukr).

Let us strive to be among the extraordinary believers.
