A Person’s Conduct In Times of Calamity

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "None of you should wish for death because of a calamity befalling him; but if he has to wish for death, he should say: "O Allah! Keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and let me die if death is better for me.' "

Lessons:

1.  Every Muslim is urged to persevere in the face of hardship.

2.  Every hardship that befalls a Muslim will purify them of sin and elevate their status.

3.  It is forbidden for a person to wish for death in times of calamity.

4.  Rather, they are recommended to recite the following prayer:

O Allah! Keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and let me die if death is better for me.
