Yahya related to me from Malik from Ata ibn Abi Muslim that Abdullah al-Khurasani said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'Shake hands and rancour will disappear. Give presents to each other and love each other and enmity will disappear.' "

Learnings:
1. Shaking hands will give rise to a feeling of love, "strengthening" the Islamic fraternity among fellow Muslims
2. Shaking hands will remove enmity and malice in the heart, remove the feeling of "al-ghil" (feelings of dislike)
3. Try to start shaking hands first when meeting each other. The Prophet SAW was the first person to shake hands when meeting friends
4. Shaking hands is a form of respect, we are encouraged to return the respect in a better way than the respect done by our brother. When our brother greets us, we should respond with a similar or better (more perfect) greeting than his greeting, and if he shakes hands, we should respond with a closer and warmer handshake.
In a narration it is mentioned:
From Abdullah bin Masud RA that the Prophet SAW said: Among the most perfect forms of respect is shaking hands.

Hadith Status: Dhaif [[There are 2 opinions about practising a Dhaif hadith if it's status is not too weak - one of them is that it is allowed for fadhail 'amal (priority of deeds) but it cannot be used as a proof/reasoning and we cannot say that it came from the Prophet SAW]]

5. Giving each other gifts will instil feelings of love and affection among us. Giving money gifts to children will bring joy and love.
6. Giving each other gifts removes resentment and anger. It would be nice for the young to visit their parents in the festive season by giving them gifts either in the form of money or delicacies.
