Prayer To Avoid Four Afflictions

Abu Hurairah told that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.) said: [O Allah, I seek refuge with You from four things: From knowledge that is of no benefit, from a heart that does not fear (You), from a soul that is never satisfied, and from a supplication that is not heard].

Narrated in Sunan Ibn Majah, no. 3837
In-book reference: Book 34, hadith no. 11
Grade: Hasan (sound)

Lessons:
1. A Muslim should consistently make prayer (du’a) to gain good in life.

2. Among the prayers taught by the Prophet (s.a.w.) is to ask Allah to be protected from these four adversities:

a. Knowledge of no value
b. A heart that does not fear Allah
c. Desire (nafsu) that is never fulfilled
d. Unanswered prayers

Let us pray to always obtain knowledge that brings good, to have consciousness of Allah (taqwa), to always be content, and to have our prayers always fulfilled.
