Ablution Washes Away Sins Committed By Parts of The Body

Abu Huraira reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, “When a Muslim’s bondsman or a believer washes his face (in the course of ablution), every sin he observed with his eyes will be washed away from his face along with the water or with the last drop of water; when he washes his hands, every sin they wrought will be effaced from his hands with the water or with the last drop of water; and when he washes his feet, every sin towards which his feet have walked will be washed away with the water or with the last drop of water with the result that he comes out pure from all sins.”

Narrated in Sahih Muslim, no 244
Grade: Sahih (authentic)

Lessons:

1. A Muslim who washes parts of their body (face, hands, and feet) in the course of ablution will also wash away the (minor) sins committed by those parts.

2. It is recommended to perfect one’s ablution by praying to Allah and hoping that He absolves the sins committed by parts of the face which are associated with the senses, such as the eyes and mouth, as well as sins committed using the hands and feet.

Let us perform ablution to the best of our ability and pray that it washes away our sins.
